Applications:
For indoor use as a supply and return air duct product capable of performing in a multiple of low to high-pressure residential or commercial HVAC applications.
This product is well suited for main trunk lines, supply and return lines, connecting lines, as well as branch runs to mixing boxes, light troffers, diffusers and registers.
Installed Lengths:
Class 1 Air Ducts do not have any limitation in installed length.
These ducts can be recognized by the "square or rectangular" Class 1 Air Duct Listing label.
Class 1 Air Connectors are limited by NFPA 90A & 90B to a maximum installed length of 14 feet.
These ducts can be recognized by the "round" Class 1 Air Connector Listing label.
Supporting:
Ducts should be supported at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals, but at no greater distance than 5' with maximum permissible sag of 1/2" per foot of spacing between supports.
Construction:
Various materials are available for constructing the inner core and outer vapor barrier providing to meet the demands of the local market requirements and the local and national building codes.
R-Values: Standard industry values are R4.2, R6.0, and R8.0.
Above R8.0 are generally considered special order.
Diameters:
Diameters generally range from 2" through 12" in 1-inch increments and 14" through 22" in 2-inch increments.
Most flexible duct products are appropriately over-sized in diameter to fit over standard sheet metal fittings.
Flexible duct products usually are packaged in a compressed form in a variety of lengths with plain ends or assemblies with special end fittings attached to either or both ends.
Code Approvals:
These flexible duct products meet or exceed the requirements of most federal, state and local codes including:
UL Standard 181, NFPA 90A/90B, International Mechanical Code (IMC), and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC).
